What is happening at Pre-school Term 5?
Welcome back to Pre-school. We hope you all enjoyed the holidays and managed to visit a few places now restrictions are starting to lift. We continue to carry on with all our covid procedures and risk assessments that are in place to ensure Pre-school is a safe place for everyone. We would like to welcome Orlaith, Annabelle, Ivan, Indy and their families to Pre-school.
Some of you may know that Emma is leaving us at the end of May. Emma has been part of the Pre-school team for many years and will be missed by us all. We have just appointed Sally Bryan to join the staff. Sally has worked in several Early Years settings and is qualified in Early Years. Sally is very well known to Pre-school having 2 children who have attended over the years and she has been on the Pre-school committee. We very much look forward to welcoming her as a member of the Pre-school team.
The topics this term will include Growing, Mini-beasts and Dinosaurs.
We are very pleased to say that Little Wild Things Forest School is open again this term. The older children, those starting school in September, will be attending on a Thursday afternoon. We hope they have lots of fun.
Parents Evening – we would normally hold a parents evening in May, but due to the pandemic we are unable to invite you into the building. However, your child’s key person will once again give you a call to discuss their progress and any questions you may have. They will ring sometime during the week beginning 10th May. If there is a time and day that suits you better that week, please let us know.
Sun Protection – as the weather improves it is important that you apply sun cream to your children before they come to Pre-school. This is particularly important as we are spending more time in the garden. Please apply the “all day” sun cream as staff are not encouraged to re-apply during the day, this is to reduce contact between staff and children.
Thank you to all who took part in the Easter Bunny Hunt, we raised nearly £200 for Pre-school.
You may notice the new wooden planters in the garden that were made by Kristian Panting. These were purchased with the remaining money that was raised by the sponsored obstacle course that the children completed in the autumn.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Linda, Karen, Gill, Emma, Keryl & Rachel.
Term 5 ends – Friday 28th May.
Term 6 starts – Monday 7th June.
COMMITTEE NEWSLETTER November 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your ongoing support to the changes Covid-19 has brought to the way Pre-school is currently running. We’ve had a great start to the new academic year and with Christmas fast approaching we’re hoping to make things as exciting and normal as possible for the children.
Outgoing Committee – We thank the outgoing committee for their hard work supporting the pre-school during their time in post.
New Committee – We welcome the new committee and thank them for agreeing to support the pre-school in their new roles. Details of the new committee and their roles can be found below. We are always looking to expand the committee and welcome new members – please speak to pre-school or any existing committee members for more information.
Jacket Potato Night – we thank everyone in our wonderful community for their support of our inaugural Jacket Potato night on Saturday 7th November. We raised over £750.00 for the pre-school.
Santa’s Sleigh – Covid can’t stop Santa coming to town in his usual way (we hope!) so look out for him on Sunday 13th December from 5-7pm. His elves will be collecting money to be split between the school and pre-school – look out for them following the sleigh.
Advent Adventure Trail – look out for further details of our new festive event designed to get children and families of all ages involved. 24 houses will be decorated throughout the village with prizes to be won. Simply follow the trail and answer the questions along the way!
Christmas Quiz – look out for Jill Thorne’s annual quiz – a perfect excuse to get the grey matter working over the festive season.
What’s new… Covid has brought many necessary changes to all areas of life including Pre-School. We are working hard to create events that work within current restrictions. We have so far employed the skills of some of our clever new committee to create online ordering forms and online sponsorship pages. Further new changes are likely and we thank you in advance for your support as we work to create new fundraising opportunities for our wonderful pre-school.
The 100 Club is one of the activities that we run to help raise funds. By purchasing just 1 number and becoming a member of the 100 Club not only will you help support the Pre-school but you could win up to £50. The more numbers you have, the more chances you have to win.
The 100 Club costs £12 a year per number & membership runs from September to August. Every month four numbers are drawn, each winning £10. At Christmas there is a special draw of one prize of £50.
Join before 27th November & your number will also be entered into the belated September & October draws; or before 17th December to be in with a chance of winning the big Christmas prize draw!
(See attached form for details of how to join)
Term 2 ends on Thursday 17th December
